I really like it when a book surprises me, because it rarely happens. I can usually see what's coming. This one...not so much. I could see the broad strokes, but the details continued to surprise me. I like that in a book. But man, Amy and Nick are so incredibly messed up and disturbing! It's so weird for me to root against both characters in a duel, but I so did. I didn't want either of them to be happy. Neither of them deserved it.

Wow. No matter what you think you know, you don't.

I had to stay up late to finish it. The forward momentum was too great to resist. I had to KNOW. But when I closed the book, all I could think about was how much more I wanted to know.

Can we start a campaign for a sequel?

I read this for a book club. I was a little unenthused going into it; I knew it was popular, but there are so many popular books that I find underwhelming or overrated. I was afraid this would be one of them.

Part One was good. Good characterizations, and an interesting story. I wasn't blown away, but I wasn't bored, either. Then I got to Part Two. If Part One was a nice float down the Mississippi, Part Two was reaching the ocean, being pulled in and riding the waves. It got so much more intense, and I could hardly put it down. I'm so glad I gave this book a chance.

Usually, when I don't like a book that is or was so hyped, I can at least see why so many people like it. With Gone Girl, I don't understand it. I was never so bored while reading a thriller.

Everything this book does "oh so amazing" according to other people, has been done before and has been done a lot better, like the plot, the perspective switch and the end. The only thing that I've never before encountered in a book was how unlikeable each and every character was. Usually, there is at least one character I like, but not in this book.

And why is every single character misogynistic? Especially the women? All of them, even when they were only there for a few pages, have no mention how oh-so-special they are and how terrible other women are. It's a "not like other girls"-parade.

The plot itself could have been far more interesting if the twist wasn't in the middle of the book. First I was somewhat hooked, but after a couple of pages, I was bored again. There were too many unneeded scenes and too many repetitions. Also, the two main characters changed their opinion and needs like every other page.

And then there is the end, which is not really an end in my opinion. Everything that happened for... this?!

Great book, lots of twists and turns. Loved how the characters evolved more and more and at times I would be blindsided. Great read!
