I wasn't really sure I was going to end up liking this, but I was pleasantly surprised. The book has a unique family(one member has numbered farts, lol), an evil neighbor and a mysterious treasure that needs to be found before it ends up in the wrong hands. It is a mix of quirky and heartfelt. I can see how people might think its a bit much, however, I really enjoyed it. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Such a fun book to listen to! I think kids will enjoy the many mentions of farts and the grand adventure/mystery at the center of the book. Also, the relationships between the siblings are so sweet. The unfolding of the separation of Wendell/Thea was written very skillfully; never sinking into deep brooding, but pointed at enough that we got the sense of how painful it was inside of Thea. Each of the seven siblings has a very unique personality and their voices seemed to make it through, with the exception of maybe Mona, who I never quite understood. This is the first in a series, so maybe she will develop as time goes on. Or, maybe she'll grow on me.

Definitely suggest this to young readers who are into Lemony Snicket, the Book Scavenger series, or any juv mystery stories. I loved the audiobook, so I will push that, but I'm sure the print form is great, as well. Looking forward to the second book, due out in June of 2019!

I don’t personally like religious messages in my children’s fantasy. Overall, fun concept but the vibe was off for me. Not a bad book in general.

charming and very sweet, but how did i not know this was going to be a series?! it ends on a cliffhanger, and at the end i was turning pages rapid fire only to be left with no resolution! i did have a hard time keeping all the problims separate in my mind, but i love each character's sweet personality quirks. kids will especially love the farting baby.

LOVE LOVE LOVED THIS. As per usual with Natalie's books, it was quirky and fabulous and full of heart. I read this in a day. That's how good it was. A really fun adventure with a cast of characters that you will instantly fall in love with. I am VERY excited for book #2!
