Wow! What a stellar series! The themes that carry through all four books of this saga are things that touch all of our lives even though this is a fantasy world. Struggles with grief, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, loss, and fighting through all those things to come out the other side a stronger person. The abuse of power and subjugation of a people do the point their culture is nearly destroyed, but those people fighting back for a better world. It's just so good.

This book felt very different than the first three and at first I was upset about that, but Mellissa Blair clearly had a story to tell about war and grief. I don’t think this is my favorite book in the series, but definitely worth reading to get closure.

This book feels like it was written by someone else. We are doing completely new world building in a final book? That’s not what a final book is for…. And Riven? I was so excited and then so epically disappointed. I ended up skimming and even that was a waste of time on this book.
