It felt like the author bit off more emotional damage than she could chew, and she didn't have near enough time to tie up those frayed ends in any way that was satisfying. The result is a final book that reads like the author (or the publisher) wanted to wipe their hands of this series and be done. A real let down, given how much I liked book two and three.
There was a pivotal scene in one of the previous books that felt very 'inspired' by a scene from a popular movie, and while that turned me off, it wasn't enough to put me completely off this series. That being said, I read another book last year that predates this series that also had an eerily similar premise/scene that kind of broke my hype for this series. I used to reccomend it to my friends that wanted ACoTar vibes with more representation, but the very similar scenes coupled with how this last book hit is enough to stop me from doing that.

I love this series, but this book just seemed to be lacking. There was a lot going on, but all at once. I couldn't be sad over characters because something happens, then we immediatel jusmp to the next thing to the next thing. I wouldn't call it fast-paced, just crowded.
