I think this is a really good YA Thriller and a great entry into learning about the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and the hoops families have to jump through to get assistance.
In the beginning there were a lot of characters introduced that I was lost. It took a minute to get everyone figured out.
However, I think the rest of it was good and a fairly easy read. Although, it is really heavy so it is hard in that sense.
The author also did a good job of making you suspicious of multiple people. So the twist was good.

Loved seeing Native American rep at the center of this story, and it's definitely a murder mystery that will stick with me for a while. Looking for Smoke set out to educate about the MMIW movement, and it absolutely succeeds in this. I felt one of the twists was pretty evident really early on, but that doesn't take away from the awesome things that this book does well.
I'll absolutely put this into the hands of my teen patrons, I'm glad I got to read it.
