First of all, thank you Epic Reads for sending me an ARC of this book. While I really struggled to get into this book initially, once it got going I was invested. I think I struggled due to the amount of POVs included. Some POVs I was more invested in than others. A personal favorite was Eli First Kill. I personally didn't like the break for the podcast POV specifically. I understand the purpose it served, but it always took me out of the story itself. I'm very glad a story like this is being told. More awareness needs to be raised for MMIW, especially as the media so often only focuses on missing white women.

I liked a lot about this book. It had good writing, portrayed native teenagers in all of their complexity and shed light on an important reality. The only thing I didn't like was the ending. No spoilers here - I need someone else to read it so we can talk about it.

This was a mix of One Of Us Is Lying and Bear Lake. Limited suspects, all have troubled stories, and it’s up to them to clear their names of murder.

More of a 3.75 than a 4. I loved that this book shined a light on MMIW through Rayanne and Samantha, and I loved all the information about Blackfeet culture and customs. The multi POV, 5 in total, got to be a bit much. I appreciated that the POVs didn’t have too much overlap and repetition of information, but the switch even within chapters felt a bit much. I enjoyed the exploration of what it means to be belong and how not being full Blackfeet made Mara feel, especially since she identified that as the reason she was isolated once moving to town. I really cared about finding out what happened to the girls but the official investigation felt grossly incompetent and seemed to follow lots of “surprise” evidence, so the investigation of the friends was more successful. While there are answers in that book, one big questions is left unresolved (the drugs), I was left feeling unsatisfied by the final reveal and results.
