The most emotional of the series! So much happens in this book and I’m sad the movie version was so different!

This is a reread.
This time round I found the topics touched in this book very up-to-date and found it comforting to see how Harry and his friends stand up for what they feel is right and meet the rising dark head on.
This too is the book where adolescence kicks in really and hormones are found flaring and friendships have to be negotiated through all of this and more.
Again, I am gobsmacked with how spot on J.K. Rowling was in 2000 with fake news and the role public media has in offering always a distortion of what is actually happening/took place.
Again, I am shocked at the amount of trauma Harry is pelted through in this book and yet he seems by the end of it rather unscathed.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter Book 4)
Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"Bow to death, Harry..."

------------------------------------------------

One thing I have learned rereading this series.... I am seriously enjoying it, but I am definitely perceiving things differently as an adult than when I read these books as a child, teen, and young adult.

While I have always thought this was a 5 star book/series, Goblet of Fire has always been one of my least favorite books of the series. However, while I do not think it has moved too far up the list, I did enjoy it WAY more this time than any other read in the past!

Harry again had trials and tibulations to face during his fourth year at Hogwarts, the year of the Triwizard Tournament. Though this time, the stakes were higher and things began to progress in my opinion to darker, more intense, obstacles than he faced in the past. The twists and turns, the confrontation, the reveal at the end, and the details we learned about key members of the magical world were 🤯 to say the least.

My only wish about this book is that it would be a little bit shorter. I feel at times it is a little slow. However, I do love the in depth look we get into his fourth year at Hogwarts.

P.S. non book related, but I truly believe this is where the movies really begin to leave things out. So much was different than the book or left out completely. Some of that was necessary and some of it was not.

Favorite Harry Potter book.

November 2024: Continues to be one of the best HP books, very disappointing to miss Hermione's character development related to S.P.E.W and Rita Skeeter.

Re-reading this as an adult, the actions of Mrs. Weasley -- especially after the third task -- were heartbreakingly pure, her desire to care for Harry and Harry's return connection to her is just sweet.
