trs01's review against another edition

DID NOT FINISH: 38%

The bigotry was too much. The Weasleys being pro-slavery, the characters being misogynistic, and Harry's inability to pick a side and have an opinion of his own. I'm happy I never read this book as a kid.

Ugh. It's impossible to get pack all the issues. The core book is solid. The mystery is interesting!  There are great plot twists!

And then the book is adamantly pro-slavery, the fat shaming is insane, and the misogyny palpable. Characters do not act consistently and Harry has NO personality in this.

Part of a shared read with Flo. Took ages to get through, but it was fun watching someone read for the first time.

This series was one of my favorites as a kid, but as an adult I can't see past J.K. Rowling's bigotry both on and off the page.

Probably my least favorite of the series. It's just dragged on too long. But it's still a good book, and I enjoy reading about the Triwizard Tournament.
