I felt that the portion title the crash was across critical part to the story. It’s dark, angst, emotional
“I want to be the sun she orbits and gravitates to. I want to be the oxygen she needs to survive. I want to consume all her thoughts, dreams, and nightmares. I want her to be obsessed with me, the way I am with her.”
Phew, I have read some toxic stories and then there is this kind of toxic. This story is filled with addiction, mental health disorders, childhood trauma, manipulation, and the list goes on and on. I'll be honest, I have very little personal experience with addiction or childhood trauma. But I have always been drawn to these kind of stories because of the psychological component to it. This story is a lot and honestly I think desperately needed a comedic element to it because the topics and plots were so incredibly heavy throughout the entire story.

Zayne and Hallie are the friends that everyone has in their friend group that clash over and over and from the outside it looks like chaos and utter destruction, which it is, but we can't see the inside that keeps the two forces coming back together again and again...despite being terrible for each other. Zayne is bipolar, narcissistic, an addict, and struggles with abandonment issues. Hallie also suffers from abandonment issues as well as severe OCD, depression and childhood sexual assault trauma. Zayne is selfish and will lie to get anything he wants and he is beyond obsessed with Hallie. Hallie tried to keep her walls up but is constantly drawn into Zayne despite how he constantly hurts her. It's a toxic cycle that repeats over and over because neither have the strength to walk away.

this has waaaaay too many similarities to my childhood and my current life wtf. this was a really good book though, it was deep and the topics were intense, these characters were intense. i cannot wait to read the rest of this series.. but ya girl needs a break before diving back in.
