I think if I had read this before I had read A Love Song for Ricki Wilde I would have rated it higher.
I really enjoyed this, the characters had depth and were fully fleshed out, the problems felt real, the romance was lovely. It just had some indefinable spark missing that really had me raving about Ricki Wilde.

This book was excellent. It was a quick read that had a little bit of everything- cheesy romance, childhood trauma, quirky side characters, flawed main characters I was still rooting for, a little smut. There were moments of sadness and joy. It was a slightly unrealistic rom com esque story but felt like it took place in a real world and acknowledged real world problems which made it feel slightly less fluffy in a good way.

3.5 stars!

I enjoyed this book but I found I started to get a little bit bored by the end. I’m not sure if this is because I listened to the audiobook, which is a format I’m still getting used to, or if the book was just a bit too long for the story. I thought the narrator, Mela Lee, did a great job of portraying the characters though, and I did feel engaged and invested in them earlier in the story, but I just felt it started to meander a little in the end.
The characters were really interesting and I loved the personality and dynamic contrasts between Eva, Audrey and Lisette - especially Audrey who added a fun, sarcastic edge to the story. I also thought the flashbacks and back stories of Eva and Shane were intriguing, despite very sad, and I enjoyed learning about their early relationship. Lisette was an infuriating character, and I felt a lot of empathy for Eva throughout.

Overall, an enjoyable read with engaging characters, but not one I’d rush to re-read.

Love love loved this book. Gave me pangs, gave me goosebumps. The pacing at the end felt a bit out of sync with the rest of the book, but five stars anyway because I love the themes and the chemistry between Shane and Eva is TO DIE  FOR.
