I can see why this book was all over tictok. This was one of the best books I have read so far this year. It's a great thriller and has some really sweet moments.
I enjoyed this book and find myself torn between the negative reviews and the glowing five-star ones. I don’t think the author is racist, transphobic, fatphobic, or pushing a religious agenda while slamming atheists, but then again, who really knows?
As for people saying something like this could never happen, they might not be into true crime, because it absolutely could.
I thought it was a solid story. The roles could have been reversed in a number of ways and I think readers would still find something to be upset about. For example, if the main character had been an atheist nanny working for a religious family, people would probably complain about that dynamic too.
Around the halfway point, I was surprised at how much had already happened. By 70%, I was hooked and had to know how it would all unfold. The twist at the end was genuinely shocking and gave me

Non mi è piaciuto per niente, pieno di false promesse - ma ahimè queste erano dettate soprattutto dalle recensioni e opinioni entusiastiche che ho letto a riguardo.
Parte lento, forse anche un po’ troppo, poi dopo una decina di capitoli inizia a farsi interessante, con una spolverata di soprannaturale che, almeno lì per lì, mi aveva quasi convinto. Poi un’esplosione, non so definirla altrimenti, e tutto quello che è rimasto della storia sono solo macerie (brutte).
Con una foga spasmodica a trovare il colpo di scena sensazionale a tutti i costi Rekulak finisce per scardinare tutto, distruggendo quanto aveva già creato, mandandolo a benedire, e nell’ultima parte del romanzo mi sono ritrovato più e più volte a chiedermi mentre leggevo “ma cos…!?”
Non voglio fare spoiler, ma se tu che stai leggendo questo mio commento ami come me i thriller e gli horror soprannaturali, fatti un favore: non leggere questo libro. A meno che tu non sia un persona che si accontenta di elementi ultraterreni (o presunti tali) che si risolvono come in una fiction sudamericana di bassissimo livello…
