I think it would’ve made a lot more sense if Mallory saw the angel wings tattoo before piecing together the abduction. It felt like a stretch that she figured out that Caroline was the one who abducted the girl.

Went full on conspiracy nut with this one, trying to solve the mystery - I was one step from full on red-string board.

Read it in almost one sitting. Not my kind of book because supernatural stuff isn’t my jam, so the fact that it’s rated so high should say something.

The first 80% of the book had me completely gripped… the twist lost me a bit. But I finished it quickly so that says something, right?

I can see why this book was all over tictok. This was one of the best books I have read so far this year. It's a great thriller and has some really sweet moments.

I enjoyed this book and find myself torn between the negative reviews and the glowing five-star ones. I don’t think the author is racist, transphobic, fatphobic, or pushing a religious agenda while slamming atheists, but then again, who really knows?

As for people saying something like this could never happen, they might not be into true crime, because it absolutely could.

I thought it was a solid story. The roles could have been reversed in a number of ways and I think readers would still find something to be upset about. For example, if the main character had been an atheist nanny working for a religious family, people would probably complain about that dynamic too.

Around the halfway point, I was surprised at how much had already happened. By 70%, I was hooked and had to know how it would all unfold. The twist at the end was genuinely shocking and gave me
SpoilerSleepaway Camp vibes.

Overall, I liked the main character. I’m not a fan of overly preachy tones in books, and while she found God after her addiction, I was actually happy for her. Whatever brings you peace girl, lol.
