Well, I'm not convinced it's 4 stars, but it's better than 3, for sure. I liked the start of this trilogy much better than Divergent, even though I didn't care for Cal one bit. Still, good story.

I found this to be a very standard YA dystopia: plucky heroine with special powers, authoritarian government who lies and rebels trying to overthrow them, and your standard love triangle. I enjoyed it enough to finish it, but I have no plans to read the sequel.

Disclaimer: I got this book free through the Samsung Kindle App Book Deals. All opinions are my own.

I picked up this book because I mistakenly thought I'd read something else I loved by this author. I was wrong; she's new to me.

In any case, this was a good book. I liked the future-other-worldly setting. It was both well described and shown. I wasn't 100% in love with the main character at the beginning, but she grew and changed as the story went on, which is always a good thing.

I've continued to think about it since then (which doesn't happen with all books, let alone one's I've gotten for free), and am looking forward to reading the sequel.

A good sci-fy page turner. This one kept me going.

Creo que me costó engancharme gracias a HP and the cursed child, principalmente.

I'm still trying to peace out how I feel about this book. For starters I almost gave up on it. There was a little too much Insta-love in my face in the first 100 pages, and it wasn't subtle either. I was drawn to this book because of the really interesting concept, but I just couldn't connect to the story.

Again, the concept was really interesting specifically the people with powers and the whole dust thing and Shredders. I really wasn't a fan of Glory's power, it was cool, but like, she could kill you with her eyes, it was a little bit eh, especially when she was killing the rats starting at them intently.

I felt that there were just way too many elements in this book. You have the post-apocalypse world, then you have zombie like inhuman creatures, then there is this whole X-Men thing going on, while also dealing with a super (and I mean like crazy) suppressive goverment that requires you to get a dating license, and PDA is a punishable offense.

I didn't hate Glory, but I didn't like her too much either, she jumped to a lot of conclusions and that irritated me. Her brother was pretty chill and Burn wasn't bad. His deviance just made me think that he was the Incredible Hulk, and that just didn't help me love this book. I haven't decided if I'm going to read the next in the series, probably will if it lands in my lap. This was a super quick read (10 pages in 4 minutes, that almost feels like a new record.) So it is worth giving it a shot. Some people seemed to have really enjoy this book.

This was very much not what I expected. I liked the blurb so went ahead and picked it up. The characters were engaging and very connected. It doesn't end on a cliff-hanger, but it does leave you wanting the next in the story.

Deviants starts slowly enough that you can mentally integrate yourself into the new world, seen through Glory's eyes, and then it starts to speed up. Actions precipitate change, beliefs are turned upside down, and the existing system is up for challenge. (You may also be favorably reminded of another popular book, which shall not be named because of far too many comparisons.)
