uhg I don't know why I did this to myself. I said no more Danielle steel, but it was a stressful week and I wanted a guaranteed easy read. But once again, the repetitiveness was nauseating, and I can't even comment on anything else.

This is the first Danielle Steel novel I've read and I am really not motivated to read any more.
This book was so painful to read through. It was really dry and most of the characters were so flat. My favourite character was Marya, who was one of the roommates, but otherwise everyone else was quite static. The love that blossomed with the protagonist felt completely out of nowhere and I just didn't believe in it.
There was not enough dialogue. There would be a description of a character having a conversation with someone about needing to someone else. Then a description of the person thinking about talking to said person. Lastly, a description of the person actually having the conversation. The book was dry and repetitive and not a lot of fun.
Character growth happenned all at the end of the book and just felt too phony. In addition, it was just very reaffirming of women being passive. The characters of Eileen and Francesca's mom were just used to show what happens if you don't act in an appropriate manner and if you try too hard to date men. You end up alone, raped, or murdered.

The storyline was interesting, however, there was a lot of repetition within the book which became frustrating.

Hadn't read Danielle Steel in years. Decided to listen to this one. I found the writing to be stilted and repetitive. Also, Ms. Steele, Benjamin Franklin was never a president! Argh!

This was not the author’s best writing. I listened to it on audible and the only thing worse than the writing was the narrator. I am gluttonous when it comes to books so I could not stop listening, however I do not recommend to others.

Pleasant easy light read. Nothing too exciting or particularly good about this book, but a nice vacation read

I have to admit that I was not expecting much other than a fun and romantic story from this one, but parts of it surprised me. Many of the characters were predictable and enjoyable, but a few of them had sides to their personalities that I didn't expect. On it's surface, the story is about Francesca, a young woman who has ended a relationship with a man whom she purchased a house with and has to figure out how to continue to live in the house with its large mortgage payments. She takes in three roommates: Eileen, Marya, and Chris. The story follows them as they grow to become friends and develop in their relationships together and apart. Parts of this story are a little disturbing but are things that could happen in real life without the sugar coating. I enjoyed the story and would recommend it.

Glad this was a quick read because it was pretty formulaic. I'm a fan of steel's early work and this just seems phoned in.
