I was really surprised at how much I liked this book. I’m not typically one for fantasy, but this was really good! There was a police procedural baseline in the human world with fantasy elements.
I listened on audiobook and it was incredible! The narrator really brought the characters to life! I can’t wait to listen to the next one!

This story was so engaging for me, I NEEDED to know what was happening. I didn't want to stop even though I had to do other life things. This hit all my buttons, police procedural, dragons, fire and magic. This is a book I would 100% read/listen to again. Dahlia reminded me so much of an old pen and paper rpg character I created years ago. She was a red headed, fire dragoon that could shift fully human. So that brought back some nostalgic memories for me, I cannot wait to get book two and start it.
I did listen to this on Audible and wanted to comment on the narrator, Cassandra King, as well. I thought she did a great job with the different voices and I was really happy when a part that came up that was whispered in the dialog that I could actually make out what was being said! I almost never can which is very frustrating for me in other audio.

Wow! This was different than anything else I’ve read in a long time. The narrator was captivating and the story was well done, though I anticipated some of the more popular tropes used. I am interested in continuing this series.
