I feel the premise of this book was more intriguing than how it actually turned out. The writing style was complicated for me to connect with and so I switched to an audio version halfway through and enjoyed it much more. The main character, although had growth, just came off across as too whiney. I think I'd much rather prefer to hear more tales of her father than her plot line.
Very well written. Not usually my genre but it kept me reading until the very end.

Oh, this was a delightful read the whole way through! Audiobook was fantastic!
I was very confused for a large portion of this book but once I was fully immersed in the story, it was hard to put it down. This was super unique and refreshing to read.
This was one of the best books I have ever read omg I cry
Lots to like here. The hero changes so much over the course of the book and I felt like her growth was very well done. The idea in general is so wonderful too. All these Doors and the intrigue surrounding them. The only thing keeping this from 5 stars is it felt very stop and start to me. I’d be barreling through pages, having fun and then things would shift and I’d find myself really grinding through some pages to get to the really good bits again. Still well worth the read though!

The premise of doors to other worlds was so interesting! As was the historical real world setting within a fantasy book. It has a book within a book element that once understood was really powerful.
I enjoyed how the story comes full circle, the family elements, and getting to know so many characters.
However it took me a long time to get into this story. It felt very disjointed which could partly have been due to the audio experience. I was well over a third of the way through the story before understanding where it was going. The pacing was not my cup of tea.

If you’re a dog lover, there’s also a horrific scene. It turns out ok but the reader doesn’t know that for a long time.
