5.24.2025 - n intense story about the horrors of living in and escaping from North Korea. Just the idea that you have to escape is wild and then how dangerous it is when you don't know anything except what you're told. I don't think we give people enough credit for the amount of strength and courage it takes to try something so new. This was a short read but so impactful.

Feels weird to rate a memoir, so the rating is mostly based on the actual writing, which I struggled with. The writing felt very simplistic and choppy.

This book was so sad and gut wrenching but so enlightening at the same time and I'm so impressed with the authors resilience and willingness to be vulnerable and share her story.
