So good! The author exhibited unbelievable courage in getting her family out of North Korea, exposing not only the terrible living conditions under the ruthless dictatorship of the Kim regime but the horrors of human trafficking.

WOW. I flew through this one, getting the audio version as well, so I could continue to "read" it while I did other things. I am so grateful for the ability to think and make choices.

This was very enlightening. I didn't have much knowledge on North Korea or human trafficking and Yeonmi's first-hand experience made this personal and accessible.

This has little to do with this book in particular, but after finishing this memoir I wanted to see what she was up to today and found out she's a Trump supporter. This surprised me and made me rethink my understanding of some parts of this book. Nonetheless, this story is one of incredible survival and a fight against the odds, which is worth a read.

A truly incredible story of horror, tragedy, and unimaginable things that dictators can do and the courage and resilience of a young woman. That barely describes Yeonmi’s story. I’m grateful she was courageous enough to share her story. I’m horrified that we let these atrocities continue.

Incredible story, a compelling read if you’re at all fascinated by/curious about the hermit kingdom and the human experience of growing up there, and what it took for one young girl to escape and find freedom.
