highlights:
- age gap (15 years)
- forbidden romance
- office romance
the forbidden aspect is a real slow burn, but considering the MMC's personal trauma, it's understandable and when he finally gives in it's all the more satisfying. our FMC had to grow up early so even though there is an age gap - both of them are fully adults and the difference of age is hardly noticeable

She’s a queen of steamy romances with broody, emotionally unavailable, and daddy-issued MMCs. Empty Kingdom was my second series by her, with a different tenor than Fractured, but still a guilty pleasure.
I felt for Roman from the first page of the series. The hype was high from the beginning, and for unknown reasons, I always thought she was going to spin a second-chance trope for his story. I didn’t know Kat at that time, but she was there for a reason. If you didn’t hate their dad before, well, it’s pretty easy to imagine yourself strangling the guy now.
The thing about hype is that it builds up your expectations, and sometimes things deflate a bit when you’ve been kept on your toes for so long. The first half of the book is all about pent-up tension and pining. Then comes the city of love, lines are crossed, risks are taken, and a few more stolen glances are shared. When the lion is released, there’s no turning back, but you’ll still want to smack some heads.
To stubborn, gorgeous A-holes who wanted to be softies. To strong-headed ladies who should have demanded a bit more groveling!
If you crave steamy romance, don’t hesitate to grab a copy!
