'Bloodshot Salvation, Vol. 1: The Book of Revenge' by Jeff Lemire with art by Lewis LaRosa and Mico Suayan is a story about a man who just wants to move on in his life, but just keeps getting pulled back in to his old life.
Poor Ray Garrison just wants to have a life. The nanites are under control. He's got a wife, and now he has a baby daughter. When his wife starts getting threatening phone calls, Ray decides he has to do something about it. The problem is that Ray's wife Magic needs him, especially when their daughter starts showing Bloodshot traits. It's a story that goes back and forth in time and has some surprising enemies and allies.
There were two distinct art styles and I preferred one over the other. I liked the story that got told, even if it was just a part one. I wouldn't mind reading the rest of this story.

Gritty and occasionally gruesome, the new chapter of Bloodshot's story from Lemire, LaRosa, and Suayan delivers some familiar shades of story but nevertheless stands on the strength of Lemire's writing and the depth of his characters. In equal measure, the art for this volume is vibrant and engaging, carrying the dramatic events from their bold opening to a finale that leaves the reader looking for more.

This continues to be one of my favorite [a:Jeff Lemire|543719|Jeff Lemire|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1568921362p2/543719.jpg] series. I'm enjoying this Punisher Decides To Live A Life Away From Violence And His Past But Must Complete One More Mission storyarc. Lemire did a great job of including continuity characters from the rest of The Valiant Universe without making it feel forced or superfluous.
If you like a good Punisher story (or have enjoyed the previous Bloodshot collections), this one is solid. Some of the thick lines and odd anatomical choices took me out of the story a few times at the beginning, but I got used to them. But this is one of the rare times that I would have given this book four stars, if not for the art. The Valiant books have had such a cinematic feel to them, and the characters in this book felt divorced from the backgrounds. Like they'd been placed slightly off-place to where they were supposed to be. It's a deliberate style choice and not the work of a bad artist, it just didn't work for me.
I am excited to see where the next volume takes this story.

I like how Lemire is handling the character of Bloodshot, especially with the parenthood angle. There was something I was mixed on, but can't quite place my finger on what it was, though. (e-galley from NetGalley)

Wait! No! Don't. I take that back. You just keep being you. Cuz whatever it is you are doing...holy hell...it works.
This is not a happy book. I guess Bloodshot fans kinda expect that though, hey?
Still...this one is dark, delicious, and bleak AF. I think a lot of that can be contributed to Lewis LaRosa's art. Seriously...gritty and creepy. Absolutely perfect for Lemire's heavy words and message.
I dug it. But its Bloodshot. I always dig Bloodshot. Here's to hoping he gets to be more stabby in the next one. I like stabby Bloodshot the best.
Also...I swear to all that's holy...if Jeff Lemire allows harm to come to Hound...I swear I'll lose my shit!

I really liked the illustrations, original and cool style in my opinion. The story is also good, nothing very original, but good mix between action and storyline. I find the characters, and the concept behind him, really good, vampire looking but kind of cyborg hero, that was good!
