I have not read the original (though I plan to correct that at some point), so I can only judge this adaptation on its own merits, and it is quite well done. Excellent voice actors, mostly very good soundscaping (though there's one spot where they should have tried harder, as I don't think a sword hitting wood should sound like breaking glass), and a well-put-together narrative.
It is a bit predictable from a modern perspective, but well done enough to be enjoyable anyway.
My favorite bit is near the end: I hope that's the way it happened in the original.

Laura is being drawn to 'Carmilla', and you wonder if she's too far gone to care, but then she calls out and lets everyone else know that she's found the tomb-marker.lizacorn's review

Stellar voice cast and a great way to introduce readers to the original vampire tale, at least according to many online reviews I’ve seen.

I have always enjoyed the story of Carmilla, though for this Audible production I do not know if I loved or hated it. The voice acting was superb, a stellar cast did a fantastic job. There was a lot of heavy breathing? It took me out of the moment. A lot of volume changes too made it difficult to just turn on and leave alone.
