Even better the second time around. Knowing the plot already allowed me to see how masterfully Reid wove the truth into the narrative while keeping the reader in the dark. All the hints and choices made are that much more impressive.

Great atmosphere, adequately complex characters, and an interesting plot that kept me curious enough to keep going. I would have loved a few more fantasy elements, but that's just personal preference. I appreciated seeing Effy grow from a frightened girl to a strong young woman who stands up for herself. Very satisfying.

Side note: absolutely love the title, especially with the context of the story.

The book was okay. The story was predictable. It was frustrating to read a story where the hero doesn’t know what the reader has already pieced together.
