I listened to the audiobook, but I think this will be better served as a written text. Some of the commentary by the translator was interesting, but honestly I would rather focus on the original text itself.

I read one or two sutras before each yoga practice. After finally finishing it, I know I need to go back to it and study the sutras with some intensity. There is much wisdom bestowed in these pages, and there were many moments while reading, I gained clarity on the way I interact and respond with my environment.

Highly recommended for any devoted yoga practitioner, but also for those who are interested in asian philosophy. Although yoga is not defined by one religion, the influences of Hinduism and Buddhism are apparent. I liked how Satchidananda used present day examples to explain the sutras and did not hesitate to incorporate science.

Read as part of my yoga teacher training.

DID NOT FINISH

A good friend of mine, who is a devoted Yogi, gave this to me in trust that I would "love it so much". Indeed, I found that some parts of the Yoga philosophy are a common thread in many faiths - "do good", "be mindful of God", etc. Things ther parts were very far from my faith, of course. Things like "even Gods have to become human". :/

So this book wasn't really geared towards my demographic but I love the fact my friend thought highly enough of me to share it. :)
