I was impressed with the consistency of certain motifs & symbols throughout the novel: violence, fire, spirit, animals, etc. This made the text more meaningful and left me with a lot to unpack after finishing the last page. I was somewhat disappointed however with how "unfinished" some of the characters' stories felt.

I started this book last night and finished it this morning and oh wow. I’m still trying to gather my thoughts.
I love how it shows how grief affects us all differently and how their stories were all told differently but equally as beautiful.
This book is about a family learning to accept their grief over the death of Ray-Ray who was shot by a police officer.
