This book was truly enthralling from start to finish. I have not previously been able to read a lot of literature from Native American authors. Brandon Hobson really paints a beautiful picture of this family, the Echotas, who suffer an unimaginable loss of their son. We learn about the aftermath many years later, as well as the stories and customs of the Cherokee tribe. At times, this book had me on the verge of tears. At other times, I couldn’t help but smile. A very very VERY much recommended read.

Really beautiful story about a family and how they each are dealing with grief. I really enjoyed it.
I loved it. Told from the voices of 4 narrators, there is the talk about social justice issues involving the Cherokee tribe. This was certainly an education for me. Well written and well told.
Highly recommend.
