 This was a random recommendation on Twitter and god!!! THE STEAMPUNK MMA ART IS SO COOL. The light, penciled backgrounds are evocative! They have STYLE. The story of a young, haunted cyborg boxer… unbelievably cool. I feel like I entered an alternate dimension. It is a world where the industrial revolution swerved into androids. Astonishing. 

 

The entire book is so awesome with the exception of the evil corporation being run by a Dr. Clown Jack Pudding (???????) Please! Why LOL.

The art is gorgeous and the setting/world building intriguing, but I had trouble following what was happening or getting invested in the characters.  I actually checked halfway through to make sure that this was the first volume, because at times it felt like I’d accidentally grabbed issue 4 or 5 and was dropped directly into the climax of a plot arc instead of just starting the story.

I have no words for this book. The first half where we learn about the characters and how M.M.A works, was amazing. I enjoyed the fight scenes and wow, when Hugo got punched right through the chest I thought that was so fucking cool! 

Then we meet Dr. Clown Jack Pudding.

Yes, that's his name.

After that, I was so confused about the plot of it all. This is a steampunk world about a boy who lost his parents (dad died in war, mother in coma) and only has the M.M.A to bring him close to said mother. The fight scenes then got really messy and I found it hard to follow along, but overall I blame Dr. Clown Jack Pudding.

Also, didn't understand why we had to see a 16 year old naked. I don't know why it had to be added except to show how evil Dr. Clown Jack Pudding is.

Cette série a vraiment tout pour elle: l’histoire est hyper originale (et intéressante), les dessins sont de loin les plus beaux que j’aie vus dans un manga... même 6 ans après je suis toujours autant sous le charme et super heureux de pouvoir replonger dedans!
