I love this style of writing where it flips between multiple characters during the chapter without forgetting who the leads are (third person omniscient).
I think it brings all of the characters together, almost making everyone a main character. Especially as this series is a family affair!
Grace is fabulously funny! Her father, the local vicar, needs to get all eight of his daughters married off and (preferably) married well so his only son can take his place in Society once he comes of age.
Get ready for a beautifully chaotic Regency Romp!

Was it good? Err, not really the word I’d use. Was it funny?? Well, the male narrator’s voices were silly. Was it an easy listen??? Absolutely.

📚 This was so boring and not fun. And it tries to be funny, but it's not pulling it off. I'm glad it was so short.
🎧 Multiple POV/semi omniscience. Two narrators, one male, one female. There was a lot of switching between POVs. The male narrator was really annoying. Maybe he was supposed to be leaning into the slapstick of it all, particularly with the female voices? But it just came off like he's never heard a woman speak before.
🌶️ 2/5 One description of their first time together, in pretty vague terms.
✊🏽🏳️🌈 Lol there's no diversity

Middle of the road
Short so limited character development
But not bad
Next ones to be considered
A good way to spend 2-2.5h journaling

I started this series out of order, reading the second book first then this one. I enjoyed this one a lot more. Overall the story was enjoyable and I looked forward to getting a chance to listen to the story again.
However, there was a lot that didn’t work for me. I wanted the story to be more centralized around the MC and not the heroine’s father (occurs in book 2 also). There was potential on the character details but was left unexplored and some late book decisions didn’t make sense. This was a dual narration and the character voices were distracting and would’ve been better suited for a younger audience.
There is one open door encounter.
Tropes/time period: Regency romance, aged difference, marriage of convenience. 1 year after Battle of Trafalgar, spring 1806.

This is your reminder that not all recommendations made online are good.
If it was any longer, I wouldn’t have finished it.
Pacing and plot was terrible and the characters had 0 depth.

Ill continue just to know what else Shackle ford and Percy getup to to get the daughters all married

3.25 This was my book club book for the month of April. This was a super short regency era romance. I feel like I would have liked it more, but it was super cheesy and a little bit cringy at times. I actually really liked the family aspect to this book because it very much gave Bridgerton vibes. I don't think I will be continuing with this series.
