I really wasn't fond of the first book, but this one was so much better.

I decided to read it as I thought it was just the two books, meaning this would be the end of the series, and figured I was already halfway there and already had the book on hold.

Turns out my library just didn't have the third audiobook, which I learned as it ended with so many unanswered questions lol
This book was enjoyable enough that I am now listening to the third book and even *purchased it* on audible, so here's hoping it holds a mere fraction of the great expanse of my heart that has been claimed by inkheart.

I think I like this book even more than the first one and it's interesting how much of the plot I still remembered after reading it for the first time again after 10 or so years.
I love that we get to know more of the mirror world and more of fox' background.
Also there's a scene in the middle of the book were Jacob gets insanely jealous and pissed off because some dude is super nice and handsome and talented and great; most relatable scene in the whole series for me.

Loved getting to know more about Fox and Jacob, but not enough suspense for me. I never really had a fear that he would die. I will read the third book because I want to see how Fox and Jacob's relationship plays out.

I don't remember the last time I read a book I loved so much that I hated it to end, didn't want to leave the world of the story. That was how I felt about this book. She weaves classic fairy tale motifs, original fantasy elements, thrilling adventure and psychological elaboration together in one delicious tale. I adore Cornelia Funke and though she was collaborating with her longtime translator, the magic was purely there.
