I started reading this after watching the series and I cannot get over how much I lobe this book.

Fantastic from beginning to end absolutely love it

I like this a lot more now that I've seen the first two episodes of the BBC mini-series with Tom Hiddleston as Pine, and it's not as if I don't like the mini-series. (I do, mostly, though I'm not keen on some of the smaller changes - overall, though, I don't think I'd be as interested if I hadn't just finished the book. I even paid to watch the first episode, since it had already disappeared from iPlayer by the time I got to it, and I certainly wouldn't have done that if I didn't want to see how it stacked up against the original.)

What the series is missing is what no TV episode or movie about anything would bother showing, such as the whole thing about Herr Kaspar's wig. What does the wig have to do with anything? Nothing at all, but those details are the parts of le Carré I like best.

Still, I did not like the ending. It feels like a pulled punch.

literally incredibly sexist and racist and uses far, far too many words. so many other books do these tropes and concepts so much better. reading the reluctant fundamentalist would be a much better use of your time.

Horrible, all the young women were described sexually, the description of a seven year old dating with his dad's girlfriend was described along the lines of: 'He held on to her hips as if he was about to enter her' - the kid's seven, who describes a seven year old like that??!!
Also didn't care for the style of writing it felt very choppy and read to be a bit like brain vomit - whatever came to mind was just written down.
