Absolutely engaging, hilarious, interesting and informative on the inner workings of South African history and culture from the perspective of a perceptive but troublesome young man.

One of the most thought provoking books I've "read" in years.

First, I recommend listen to the audio version of this book, where Trevor Noah adds to the rich text through his amazing gift for languages and accents.

Second, I expected this to be a memoir laced with humor. Instead I found a story with amazing depth and though provoking passages. And yes, there were some hysterical moments as well (e.g. the chapter with the "Go Hitler" Dance Parade.

Third, I believe anyone would benefit from Born a Crime -- student of history, government worker, high school student, civil rights activist, and those focused on women's rights. Yes, Born a Crime touches this issues, and delivers enough laughter to balance out the tears.

I am planning to buy several copies of Born a Crime to stock my Little Lending Library. Spread the word about this amazing story. I now know why Jon Stewart passed the Daily Show to Mr. Noah - he is brilliant.
