Wow. Just wow. I immediately connected with this book on so many levels. I left most of the poems with chills on my arms or up my spine, not to mention the relatability of several of the topics.

Lord is RAW. She (quite literally) puts her heart on the pages for her readers, and it makes all the difference. I don’t think I have felt such an immediate and intimate connection with a book of poetry since reading the work of my favorite poet, Nikita Gill.

I could feel myself going back in time with Lord, traveling with her to different memories and points in time, experiencing my own memories and feelings directly alongside hers. I simply don’t think I have enough praise for her words.

Go get a copy, as soon as possible. If you need to take a walk along your own memory lane, and examine your own fragile heart, this is the best way to do it. Lord welcomes you in fact (see first poem), and encourages you along the way. I will definitely be rereading this and recommending it to every person I come in contact with for at least the next week.

Poetry is supposed to be personal, but Lord's poetry is also raw, and real - equally optimistic and painful to read. She bears her soul for her readers to remind them that no matter what others tell them, they will never lose their magic; you are always worth more than you think you are.

If you are a fan of modern, emotional poetry, I would highly recommend Lord's work. I am looking forward to seeing what she does with her upcoming novel - I'm sure it'll be just as brilliant.
