Didn't enjoy the causal sexism, did enjoy the plot a little more than wasps and how the casual sexism was essentially refuted. Also nice to see women in a play who are interested in and enjoy sex. Basically the women of Athens go on a sex strike in order to convince the men to end the Pelopponessian war, which I think is an amusing concept. I also read this for a tutorial.

A delightfully farcical comedy that still resonates today.

Me after reading this play and being in love with every aspect of it and how it portrays women assuming the "supposed" roles of men without even lifting a finger, beautifully :
description
I have to say I was expecting a completely boring play that seemed to go on and on but boy oh boy was I in for a treat! This play was funny and lewd as hell and completely timeless. It is a really quick read and you will not waste your time if you decide to read it. On my damn word.

I've had a long history with 'ol Lys. I've written many a paper on her, some condemning her as a rebel-rouser and rioteer. I've acted in a Dr. Seussian version of the play. I paper choreographed the stage combat between the Old Men and Old Women. I've had my share of Aristophanes for a while. A lot of comparisons can be made to the protests of the late '60s-early '70s in a "Make Love Not War" motif. Very pro-feminism with a sexual empowering concept. A good read.
