“When he lights his lamp, it’s as if he’s bringing one more star to life, or one more flower. When he puts out his lamp, that shines the flower or the star to sleep”

This was just really beautiful and wonderful and such a quick read. It is definitely worth reading.

Adults lose all the fun and imagination that kids have. That we should love and treat what we love with great love.

I have no idea what the hype is all about... it was a nice story but I don't understand the meaning behind it at all. I get the philosophical aspects of the book but I don't understand the author's representation of them.

A cozy read that warms one’s heart to the core, Antoine de Saint Exupery’s “The Little Prince” revolves around a pilot crashing into the Sahara desert, where he stumbles upon a young little prince. Together, they form a lifelong bond and unwrap the truths of the universe, learning about love, loneliness, and life.

I bought this book back in August, when I bawled my eyes out to the 2015 adaptation. I adored the simple yet dagger-sharp lines this film dropped. So, why not buy the book? I convinced my mom several times to let me buy the novella. And, I thank the Lord that she agreed.

This Saint-Exupéry story is a charmingly beautiful tale. Witnessing the relationship of the little prince and the pilot, two enigmas with clashing personalities, was endearing. It made me reminisce on my younger self and how he would react to current me. And, might I add, this book is full of sharply witty and wistful lines that my mind is still hung up on. Lines such as “What makes the desert beautiful is that somewhere it hides a well” and “It is such a secret place, the land of tears” clawed my heart, digging a small niche for it to reside.

Throughout the whole book, I adored the little prince’s curiosity. His earnestness in asking questions and responses to grown-ups made me remember my own curiosity. He truly teaches us to be explorative, to be full of hunger for knowledge. Moreover, his conversation with the fox is engraved in my brain for the rest of my life. Defining taming as “establishing ties” and the fox’s lime where he says that if the prince tames him, he’ll love the wheat fields, crumpled me up.

And, can we talk about the final chapter? Where the pilot now understands the little prince? The last page where he drew the same desertscape which the Little Prince one stood on, exhaling his final breath? Asking the reader to tell him if the prince comes back? I was devastated. This relationship between the little prince and the pilot made me yearn for one, the genuineness of it truly exemplifying that the most essential things are always felt and understood by the heart. I loved every bit of it.

Overall, The Little Prince taught me many things. As a teenager, I’d like to say this book will be one of those pieces of media that is integral in shaping the person I will become 20 years later. Additionally, this book is the first one I have annotated in my book collection, so that was also an added layer in the experience of reading this. This book is a treasure trove, a pearl. A rose, if you will. Everybody should read this at least once in their lives.
