I started reading Cinder a couple of years ago but it never caught my attention, not enough anyway to keep reading it.
However I just picked it up once again this year and I wasn’t able to put it down ever since. Cinder was honestly a ver refreshing story to read, it provided me with ever bit of entertainment that I needed. I finished it in only three days and wow. I really loved it.

Cinder is such an exceptional character, I loved her throughout the entire book and love how fearless she is. The only thing that icked me a little is that I as expecting a conclusive ending and not that big of a cliffhanger. It was very anticlimactic for me, but I do understand that if I continue reading the next books then I will be able to see what happened with Cinder and the prince.

Honestly it was a very light and fun read to start off the year, I will be picking up the next books because I really want to know what happens next in this incredible world!

Overall, I liked this book. It was fun, fast-paced, exciting (albeit a little predictable). I suppose that's the risk you run when your books are inspired by other works. If you are familiar with the story of Cinderella or Sailor Moon (who isn't) then you probably worked out basically everything that was going to happen long before it did. That's not always a bad thing per se, but there is something to be said for being able to be surprised by a book.

It also feel a little tedious at times, but I genuinely think it was because I listened to the audiobook rather than reading it. I'm wondering how different this book would have felt if I'd read it myself, because I found Cinder to be extremely whiny, Kai to be a bit on the exasperating side, and Adri to be too horrible to even believe - but it had a lot to do with the acting choices made by the narrator. I think I would have imagined their tones a lot more subtly had I been imagining it in my own mind.

So again - I keep trying to separate the story itself from the way it was read to me, and I think I liked it quite a lot. Solid 3.5, leaning toward 4.

Nice concept, but I forsaw the plot twist at the end. Also, the part when she arrived at the ball gave me second-hand embarrassment.

I loved everything about the book. But I hate three people in the book. I really hate Queen Levana. I hate Adri and Pearl.

Reread from when I first picked this up, which was more than ten years ago. Picked it up again after seeing that recently the series has been given a new set of covers and the Cinder one just looked so good. But this wasn't as great as I remember. Plot-wise it's fine, everything happens pretty fast, though literally nothing gets resolved and it's obvious you need to read the next books to feel any sort of resolution. The characters were also far more... whiny and entitled than I remembered, but that might be because this is a YA book and I am an adult now.

What annoys me the most about this book was just how ignorant the world-building was; it's obvious that the author is a white woman who generalized non-white nations. That had been a big disappointment for me since I never noticed this until now.

But I also remember this to be the weakest book in this series because I felt like it was bit off having an Asian character written by a white woman and she didn't feel very... Asian. Because of that, I'll probably still reread the rest of the series.

Cinder is a book I've seen ALL OVER the internet for years. My little sister even picked it up to read, so I decided I may as well give it a try. The concept is unique enough. A futuristic spin on Cinderella, with cyborgs and moon people. I give credit for that, but the story itself simply didn't hold my interest. I guess cyborgs aren't my jam. I seem to be in the minority with my opinions on this book. Most people seem to love it, so if it sounds like something you would enjoy, I say go ahead and give it a chance. You may disagree with me on this one.
