This is the series that started my love affair with all things Kate Meader but I only discovered it with the final book and, until today, I never found the time to go back and read the first two. I can’t beleive I waited so long.
This story was a slow-burning, tension-filled romance that explored the ugly side of fame and the psychological scarring side of being the “fat girl” without dwelling ONLY on those two points. Kate Meader wrote a well-rounded story that seemed to pack the punch of a year long romance into one that really only spanned a little over a couple months. I can’t wait to read about Shane and Cara next!

The plot was a bit scattered at the beginning and it took me a while to get into it. But one I hit the middle of it, it picked up and kept my attention until the end. I didn't mind the main character - she was a little more realistic than your usual "female" character, as she proud of her curvier and larger figure. Not many books portray women in that light, so it was refreshing in that sense. I'm not sure if I'll read the rest of the series though. I may change my mind later.

This book was a fun, sexy read and I really glad I got to around to reading it. I thought the author did an excellent job with developing the main characters along with the characters around them, making me want to continue the series and see what happens down the road in this series. (It's always a good thing, in my opinion, when an author makes me not only care about the MCs, but also future MCs of other books. It makes me feel more invested in the book and the series.)

If this was perhaps 50-75 pages shorter or something I might have given it a 4 star rating but it just felt so long at times. There was SO much going on. Like the video/who did it, the drama with her dad, drama with her ex, drama with his sister and then their own drama etc it just kept going and I honestly lost interest at times but overall it was a good story.
I'm not interested in reading two more either, like I want to know what happens but not if they're all this long (which I know they're NOT long they're super average for book length but it could be pulled back a bit and still have the same outcome I think)

In Feel the Heat we meet Lili and Jack, the highly enjoyable main characters in this comedic romance. Lili is a woman who has put her life on hold to take care of her family, and when she meets Jack, a celebrity chef, she doesn't know how to put herself and her needs out in the open. So used to being available to others, she balks at putting her trust in someone she thinks won't stay, but what she doesn't count on is Jack's persistence. Will she let him in or will she allow her insecurities and fears to ruin their relationship?
I really liked Jack in this book because he knew what he wanted and tried so hard to get the girl, even though she didn't treat him very well at times. Usually when I read books I immediately identify with the heroine, but in this book, I really enjoyed Jack. At times I was so frustrated with Lili because of her reluctance to pursue a relationship, and yet I felt for what she was going through.
Lili is different from many characters I've read in that she is a plus-size heroine. She was bullied throughout school for her weight and has finally started to come out of her shell somewhat, but her weight soon becomes the focus again when she and Jack are caught making out on camera. What was once bullying on a schoolyard scale now turns national as everyone has an opinion on the new couple, and no one is kind. Lili reverts back to her insecurities and pushes Jack away, fearing being out in the open and the target for Jack's fan's jealous rantings.
I really enjoyed every aspect of this story, from the weight issues to the highlight on bullying, from the cooking to the comedy. I liked that Jack clearly thought Lili sexy despite her insecurities and the bullying, and I really liked the cooking angle. I love cooking and have taken classes, so I really enjoyed seeing all of the cooking references. Fun also was the comedy. Feel the Heat had me laughing so many times at the personalities and inner thoughts of the characters, and I would certainly read it again. It is now one of my favorites, and I would definitely recommend others to give it a try.

Es gab viele Dinge, die ich an diesem Buch mochte. Ganz vorne dabei natürlich Jack. Jack ist der gefeierte Fernsehkoch, omnipräsent in der Regenbogenpresse, jeden Tag eine andere Dame, interessiert sich nur fürs kochen und für Frauen. Das ist auch das Bild, dass Lili von Jack hat. Nur leider stimmt das Bild nicht. Jack ist ein Koch mit Tiefgang, der sich für One Night Stands zu schade ist und der sich wirklich eine feste Beziehung wünscht. Lili, die anfangs eigentlich nur ein bisschen Spaß wollte, muss sich mit den überraschenden Gegebenheiten anfreunden, was über einen Großteil des Buches wahnsinnig frustrierend ist, einfach weil sich zwischen Lili und Jack eine unglaubliche Spannung entwickelt, die sich aber aufgrund der verschiedenen Wünsche der beiden einfach nicht lösen will. Mein Gott. Irgendwann war sogar ICH sexuell frustriert!
Ich bin nicht so der größte Fan von Lili muss ich sagen, ihr Minderwertigkeitskomplex, ihr Unvermögen sich ihrer Familie ordentlich über ihre Träume und Wünsche zu äußern und vor allem wie sie sich gegenüber Jack verhält, waren irgendwann einfach nur noch anstrengend, vor allem weil sich die ganzen Probleme, die sie mit sich und ihrem Leben hat immer wieder wiederholt haben, genauso wie die Beziehung mit Jack, sie sind zusammen, sie trennen sich, sie sind zusammen, sie trennen sich – teilweise hab ich nichtmal genau verstanden, was jetzt genau eigentlich das Problem war. Kinderkacke.
Was das Buch aber unwiderstehlich gemacht hat waren die Rahmenbedingungen, die typisch italienische Großfamilie, mit dem mürrischen Vater, der liebevollen Mamma und den tausend Cousins, die alle auf ihre eigene Art großartig sind, hat wahnsinnig Spaß gemacht, jedes Familienmitglied war mir sympathisch (sogar Gina!) und nach dem Lesen wollte ich erstmal eine Riesenportion Spaghetti essen.
Apropos Spaghetti, was ich auch toll fand, waren die zwei Rezepte, die sich im Einband versteckt haben, nämlich Jacks Focaccia und sein Ziegenköse-Karamell-Eis. Das fand ich einen netten Touch und die Focaccia würd ich glaub ich sogar gerne mal nachbacken! Wer kann bei italienischem Essen schon widerstehen? Ich auf keinen Fall.
Insgesamt also ein Wohlfühlbuch, mit einer ungewöhnlichen, aber erfrischenden Rollenverteilung, gesettet in einer tollen italienischen Großfamilie. Bin schon gespannt auf die Folgebände, die die Geschichte von Lilis Schwester Cara und Jacks Schwester Jules erzählen!

Verführung à la carte... Ein an sich vielversprechender Titel.
Ich mag Liebesromane, auch gerne mal etwas sexy; und ich koche slash backe echt gerne.
Aber das Buch war leider nicht mein Fall.
Das Positive: Der Schreibstil. Das Buch lässt sich leicht und flüssig (und schnell) lesen!
Und dann hört es eigentlich auch schon auf...
Mit den beiden Protagonisten bin ich einfach nicht warm geworden. Jack war mir zu gewollt sexy, und Lili - ja, die mochte ich an sich, da sie eine kurvige Figur hat und somit optisch mal anders ist als die sonstigen Protagonistinnen. Leider wurde sie viel zu sehr auf ihre Figur reduziert (von Jack), und hat sich auch selbst nicht mit ihrem Körper wohlgefühlt.
Ein altbekanntes Schema.
Inhaltlich ging es entweder um Sex, oder um Essen, oder um beides zusammen. Bis ungefähr 3/4 des Buches zumindest.
Dann kam ein bisschen mehr *Inhalt* auf, ein bisschen Familien-Drama, ganz viel Hin und Her zwischen Jack und Lili (mir war es etwas ZU viel).
Insgesamt hatte das Buch schon Potential, aber das ist zwischen den sexy Szenen (die ich überhaupt nicht sexy fand) untergegangen.
Schade eigentlich.
