Dandy spy-hero Lucifer Box must rescue the 'perfect victim' to foil Olympus Mons' plan to raise the devil.
Fast paced with twists and turns right to the end. Told in his usual sardonic style, this is a wonderful mix of detective fiction and derring-do Impossible to put down.
I picked this book up at a Half Price Books in Seattle probably a decade ago, and only recently pulled it off the shelf to finally read, along with the first in the Lucifer Box series. On my book blog, Reading Rainstorm I'll be reading and reviewing more neglected books that have been collecting dust on my shelves. This was definitely a fun one to start with!
An old school ripping yarn - this book has spies, murder, double crossing and derring do and the Devil just to add spice. I'll definitely have to read the Vesuvius Club now.
Part of me really wants to like this series, with its arch knowing references and writing, but mostly I'm let down by the mystery plots, which are really thin.
