So brilliantly funny. The audio read by the author is fantastic.

Read about a third of it before having to put it down. Maybe you need to be a bigger fan of Monty Python, or maybe the later parts of the book are where he gets into the more interesting facets of his life. But the early parts of this book were a slog and seemed rather like going through a list of events that he felt he needed to include, rather than weaving any compelling narrative.

Fun, even rollicking, with a good look at the rest of the Pythons post-Monty as well as concentrating on Idle's life.

I did find the name-dropping tiresome, tho maybe not as tiresome as some. Even more, I found the "hey, lucky me" behind that tiresome, like Eric Idle had some special blessing. I did like that he shows Cleese is not a dick and that he doesn't think he's a dick, as well as the work involved with the post-Python musicals and the final 2010 blowout in London.

So, taking it for what it is, it's a four-star. Don't take it for more than that.

I love Monty Python and Eric Idle so I thought I'd love this book... and I DID! GO READ IT!

Reading this was fantastic. You really get a sense that Eric Idle is still that young man from Cambridge. A must-read for any Monty Python fan.

It was fun to listen to Idle share his take on the formation of Monty Python, his solo work, celebrity stories, and reviving Python material through Spamalot and live shows. The book is a little lean on his personal life and has some repetitive moments. A bonus to the audiobook is hearing Idle sing and do certain bits that may not translate as well on the page.
