Thought it was going to be sort of like Angels & Demons, and DB's other books, full of twists and turns with historical references, totally didn't expect the supernatural twist! Very well done, had me engrossed.. Will probably reread it when it comes out just to see what's changed , if anything.. Definitely recommend to any one!! Kudos to James Rollins and Rebecca Cantrell, will definitely read more of your stuff!!
I enjoyed the book, but got a bit confused about characters and settings a time or two. The plot is fairly complicated, but I could see and smell and hear what was going on. I felt propelled along. Erin and Rhun felt layered, but Jordan's character wasn't as fleshed out. Enjoyed the historical aspects. Loved the action, but didn't like the romantic aspects (seemed forced at times - how many people think about sex when fighting for survival?).

"Das Evangelium des Blutes" ist der Auftakt zur Sanguinarier-Trilogie von James Rollins und Rebecca Cantrell und hat mir gut gefallen. Die Geschichte um kämpfende Vampire im Namen Christus' und ihren bösen, blutrünstigen Zwillingen strotzt vor Action, Verweisen auf das Christentum und ein wenig Liebe. Jedoch habe ich den Humor und die Gewitztheit James Rollins, die er so toll in seiner Sigma-Force-Reihe zeigt, vermisst.
Die Story wird ausführlich und langsam aufgebaut. Hierbei fand ich die vielen historischen und religiösen Details klasse und beeindruckend. Die beiden Autoren legen sehr viel Wert darauf, dass ihre Leser verstehen, was ihre Figuren bewegt und woher sie kommen. Klasse!
Die Action kommt dann wie ein Vorschlaghammer. Eine großartige Wendung. Doch nach dem dritten Überlebenskampf dachte auch ich: "Okay, ich möchte gern wieder die Ermittlungen zurück" Nicht, dass die Kämpfe unspannend waren. Aber mir fehlte da ein Gegengewicht.
Der Schluss führte die ersten offenen Stränge zusammen und war typisch für Rollins. Ich habe noch eine Menge offene Fragen, die ich hoffentlich mit Band 2 und 3 beantwortet bekomme.
Wer mal wieder echte Vampire erleben möchte und sich für Geschichte interessiert, sollte unbedingt zugreifen.

I was heartily disappointed in this story. I expected the usual mile-a-minute story-telling that I'm used to seeing from J. Rollins. Apparently his co-author brought in that romance aspect that REALLY slowed down the storytelling. To ALSO find out that this is just the first part of a 3-part, I'm feeling a bit let down. I was expecting to find a complete story in the way that the Sigma Force series are all complete stories set within a larger "world." I didn't find myself enjoying this one (rather long) story enough to want to read more about these characters, but I'm also frustrated by not knowing how things end.
I don't like rating a book like this because it is too far fetched for my taste. I am not one to stop reading a book once I start it so I persevered and although I thought it was well written it was just a little too over the top for me. I may have to pass on other "Sanguined series" novels. I still have "Bloodline" to read and hoping its a lot better.
I picked this book up while on a trip to South Carolina while I was in the airport and immediately found myself sucked in. Fans of the Davinci Code will enjoy this book, as well as anyone who likes vampire novels. I enjoyed the mystery and treasure hunt and cannot wait to read the next in the series!
