this was definitely the best way to end this series. it felt like a perfect counterpart to the first book, the same soft feel-good storytelling of people being nice and warm to each other.

This is probably my favorite book that I've read. It is absolutely perfect for me and I'm attempting to rate it a 5.75 but it'll probably just record it as a 5. This is a great character study. The setting lends itself to the most in depth and insightful interspecies conversations. This is a group of aliens I long to be standed with for sure. I love the way Becky Chambers tackles philosophical questions through these delightful hopeful space tales. Very reminiscent of Star Trek but not all human centered and I find that extremely refreshing.

this was like found family but so much more complicated, which made it truthful. i loved how all of the characters had unique and complex dynamics with each other, and how this book was indeed deeply connected to the context of the galaxy it's in and the ground it's on.

unfortunately, not my favorite in the series, but still filled with chambers’ usual tenderness of writing, and still well-enjoyed. i will always love and admire how each wayfarers book stands out so much from most sci-fi in its discussions around culture, interpersonal connections, and love. the galaxy and the ground within, in particular, brought up some very valuable conversation regarding colonization and its long-term effects on victimized societies (except, of course, in an extraterrestrial context), and it was beautifully handled, especially in how easily it parallels with real-world issues. the ending of this book was so sweet and warm and really tied the knot for the wayfarers saga, connecting the characters with an important finality. i can’t wait to reread this series and submerge myself in its warmth and feeling of belonging again in the future.

I’m so sad to have finished this series, and so grateful to have read it. What an incredible fourth book in the lineup! I loved the characters and found their stories so engaging and beautiful. I can’t stop recommending Becky Chambers to friends and strangers alike!
