This book was not my usual read by far. But it was very inspiring and surprisingly I took something from each “trip chapter”, so one from Italy, one from India and one from Indonesia that really resonated with me.

In each “trip chapter” I found myself wishing to just go on this trip of self discovery as well. I hope one day I have a trip such as this. I can’t even say which trip I enjoyed vicariously most, but it was all described very well and comical from Liz’s perspective which I think made it easy for me to read especially as I’m not usually one to read non-fiction!

A book rich with beautiful imagery, an inspirational story, and beautifully crafted sentences.
I’d seen (and thoroughly enjoyed) the movie adaptation of this book before, and now I’m excited to see it again after loving the book as much as I did. I loved the depth reading Gilbert’s words brought to her experience. I’ve seen a lot of reviews saying she’s self absorbed and selfish - but this is what mental illness does to you, you can’t look outside of yourself, and I loved seeing her be able to open herself up to others and the world as part of her journey. Small disclaimer; she mentions how she was able to go off of all mood stabilizing medication - if you need to remain on medication for your health this is not a bad thing. I loved the book though.

This book entails the journey of a women who is searching for herself. She is trying to find a spiritual balance within herself, to be more self-loving, self-dependent and more trusting of herself. I think its a great book to read for anyone who feels shaken in life or perhaps have ventured on another path of life that seems abnormal. It is a great book, and relatable for anyone who has ever been through a big change in life such that it makes you question yourself.
Most of my friends have thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. As for myself I find it to be a slow read but relatable. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who come to a cross-road in their life and want to explore their vulnerabilities in order to regain the confidence and learn about yourself.

Fantastic book!! I figured I would enjoy it based on the movie but I was absolutely captivated by Elizabeth's storytelling. In the audio version, she even does different voices for the main people she encounters in her journey. This book was relatable, hilarious, and inspirational. I enjoyed reading about her experiences but also her inner thoughts and feelings about it all interwoven between her adventures.
a thoughtful self-reflection for a woman who pursues her passions around the world. made me really crave the "best" pizza in Naples!
I found her writing style to be very annoying.
