I'm gonna be honest, I had a hard time even pinning down what this book was truly about. If you're expecting a straightforward horror or thriller story, you're gonna be disappointed.

The story revolves around teenager Jason Nightshade, who's a huge horror movie buff and likes to actually make his own. He shared this passion with his brother, who was abducted. They also shared an interest in the same girl.

Since the loss of his brother, Jason's life has fallen apart. His parents barely acknowledge his existence, and every time he thinks he is getting somewhere with the girl, Ally, he is pushed away. Then a series of creepy and inexplicable things start happening, and Jason gets lost in a horror land.

The thing I liked most about this book, was that the author does a great job of getting you within Jason's broken psyche. Both you and Jason cannot tell what's real and what's not. His mind has been so twisted since his brother's disappearance, and he has no one to support him.

The characters are very hard to get a grip on. Ally can't really make up her mind about how she feels about Jason, I think because she also had feelings for his brother before he was taken. Jason is not sure if he is really sad or not about his brother's disappearance, and he won't admit any of his feelings to himself.

The ending was very fast paced and also, very ambiguous. I was left feeling unsatisfied about knowing what really happened, and there was no explanation as to the true story at all. I applaud the author for trying to take on so many themes, but in the end it was just too much and felt jumbled to me.
