Not the best Sookie book, but certainly not the worst. Some things that were a long time coming finally happened in this book, and it seems a great set up for the last two in the series. Here's hoping they don't disappoint!
I am truly going to miss that Viking.

I know this one gets flack, but I appreciated Sookie's inner monologue around processing guilt vs survival and her efforts to determine how she views death and violence distinctly.
I feel like the ending of this book was too abrupt and left too many things hanging. I mean I realize that this technique is typical Harris, but it was a little less pulled together than normal. Also, not enough Eric. Although, I have a feeling book 12 (when and if she writes it) will have a great deal of Eric. I've been over the whole Sandra Pelt thing - so I'm glad that's over.
It pains me to give this book such a low ratings seeing as I have fallen in love with each and every character in it...
but honestly the plot just wasn't all that good. I wasn't impressed and I felt that it was just a repetition of the last however many books. Perhaps this series should be coming to its end rather than dragging on and recreating the same experiences time after time.
It makes me sad because I feel the characters have so much potential but are just not fulfilling it because Charlaine's writing is getting tiresome and... well... repetitive.
Of course I will read the next one... I just hope my star rating will be higher.

Is it wrong to say that there is almost something comforting about these books? Especially on audio. There are characters you like and always happy to see returning, there are characters you don't like (and you know you aren't supposed to like) and there are few big surprises. But I really enjoy these books and wouldn't miss one!
Typical. Not the best, but nowhere near the worst book in the series.
It was okay. The worst part about continuing the Sookie Stackhouse series is that everyone but Sookie seems to grow and change. Sookie does not compromise-- not her morals, not her views, nothing. And she for no one. Even the people she supposedly loves.
You would think after however many years it has been, Sookie would be used to the cultures of the races she interacts with-- vampires, fae, shifters. But throughout the book, she constantly judges them-- and usually for killing people trying to kill her. It's ridiculous.
There's one point in the book where Bill basically says this to her. She even AGREES. SO yes, she's acting sort of in an irritating manner.
I also feel like she completely sabotages her relationship with Eric-- and makes no effort to repair it.
Overall, it's a sad. We're watching the decline of the Sookie Stackhouse novels.
