Another excellent installment in the Sookie Stackhouse series! I simply cannot put these books down once I start reading them! I sure hope Ms. Harris is busy writing the 12th book because she sure left me hanging on a cliff wanting to know what happens next!

Let me start by saying that I was aware of this book's negative reviews before I began reading it. So I wasn't really expecting it to be especially thrilling or wonderful. Out of all the Sookie books yet, it was definitely the most lackluster. There were a few problems affecting Sookie and her current love throughout the novel, but somehow it came across as nearly boring. The stuff involving Victor and Eric was predictable at best. Their plan to overthrow him at Fangtasia went by too quickly and conveniently for how ominous they made Victor and his minions sound. Perhaps they'll have to deal with some repercussions in the next book. What really bothers me is that the stupid Pelt family problem has somehow been dragged out across the last (what feels like forever) 3 or 4 books. I mean, come on, it was just irritating. Thank god that storyline is over! There were a few bright moments, like Bellanos and Dermot coming back with a head.
Overall, it wasn't a bad book. I finished it in about 6 days, only because of work/school, otherwise I likely would've finished it much faster. It seemed oddly short. And the ending? What the hell was that? 'Mmk she's dead imma watch Jeopardy'.......T_T what? I know that this series will be ending after 2 more are released so I'm satisfied with the series as a whole but this book was an awkward piece to the puzzle.

That was a torture to read this book. Where did disappeared Soookie's personality? First half of the book was really boring and I felt like I was reading some different book from different author. Then in the second half everything seemed more like a Sookie world in previous books, but still....
Eleventh in the Sookie Stackhouse urban fantasy series set in a contemporary Bontemps, Louisiana.
The Story
This is not a fun time for Sookie—first the firebomb at Sam's, then the mini-war going on between Pam and Eric which seems to have something to do with her, several sets of kidnappers, the family history she learns from Gran's letter and the legacy she left, Jannalyn's trickery, Amelia's betrayal, the very odd personnel she meets at Hooligan's, the real reason why Claude and Dermot are living with her, the truth she learns from Mr. Cataliades, phew… I ain't even gonna tell you about Eric!
There is a lot going on and most of it is nasty! Irritatingly, this is a bridge novel in which nothing is resolved. I'd'a given it a 4 but I hate bridges…hence the 3.5 rating!
I did appreciate what happened with Victor…even though I have to wait to find out its ramifications in the next book!
The Title
I'm guessing the title, Dead Reckoning is about the reckoning that is still to come and all that Sookie can do is continue to chart her course based upon what has occurred in the past.
