i lovee them !! theyre so so cute, and this was so funny!!!
this book fr had me laughing out loud at points.

logan was the king of groveling, and they way he chased after her had me reconsidering my hatred for the second chance trope. his background and home life really made his character seem so real and easy to empathize with. i love my book men with a little bit of ✨spice✨ (and by spice i mean emotional trauma

✨Somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars ✨

I knew going in I was probably going to be let down. The Deal was such a good book that I knew it would be next to impossible to live up to it. So, I waited awhile before I read this one, and I think that helped a lot. It made me appreciate the positives: good, clean writing, and some good, clean fun!

One thing I appreciate about both The Deal and this book is that they’re very genuine. Nobody is trying to out-tragedy anyone. These young adults have some problems, but they’re realistic. In this book, the mistake the hero makes was definitely upsetting. It wasn’t something that communication could’ve solved; he didn’t understand his feelings, and as a result he said some hurtful things. And because Grace wasn’t a doormat, it was a big deal to her. I didn’t blame her. It would’ve been a big deal to me too, especially if there wasn’t the foundation of a relationship to fall back on. They had only hung out a couple times when it happened. Young people screw up; it’s what they do. They’re also very stubborn. I mean, there doesn’t always have to be some complicated plot; sometimes people just say the wrong thing. Still, even though I didn’t blame Grace for shutting him out, I didn’t at all dislike Logan for what he did. Again, young people make dumb mistakes because they’re still learning. Honestly, I did really like both Logan and Grace. Logan was charming and funny, and Grace was sweet but still strong. I’m not a hockey fan, but the author never got in-depth about it, so that didn’t matter.

A few things annoyed me, though. The Piper subplot was totally left hanging. Also, Grace’s friend Ramona was the fucking worst. You don’t keep friends like that in your life, and if you do, you get zero sympathy when they inevitably fuck you over yet again. And Grace’s list? That had the potential to be a lot funnier than it actually was. And finally, the whole drama with Logan’s family was just... well, I didn’t buy it. Getting drafted would’ve potentially solved everything. No family that has money problems would ever discourage a kid from playing professional sports. It’s just not a thing. I will say, though, that the author did handle the addiction storyline well, so that was something.

So, no, this isn’t as good as The Deal. But on its own, it’s completely readable as an NA sports romance. If you’re into those, you’ll enjoy this one. (Also, it can be read as a stand-alone, but you really should read The Deal anyway)
