This movie is a chicken soup for the soul.
A heart warming story about a grieving family
About being yourself.
About confronting your fears.
About forgiveness.
About love.
About letting go of the past and embrace the now and the future.
Mixed with all this is an amazingly written battles and beautiful even if familiar (Avatar the last airbender) magic systems. This book is like if the game Ghost of Tsushima (highly recommend you play) and Avatar the last Airbender had a baby. On top of all this M.L. Wang tackled issues like sexism, sexual assault, politics among other things in a way that wasn’t repulsive like most “Woke” media do these days.
My only issue and the thing that stopped me from giving a 5⭐️ is the clear fact that this book needs a sequel. This should be at least a dualogy. Many story threads were presented but not tied in the end. Even though it provided a conclusion for Misaki (the mother) in an amazing and very touching way, it didn’t finish the overarching story, THE WAR story. After all, the subtitle for this book is “A theonite war story” emphasis on the word “War”. The reason for the war is not clear during almost all of the book and Wang had written the story in a way that made it a Mistry that I believed will be concluded in the end. And even though we kinda got that “conclusion” it wasn’t satisfying it at all.
