Bridget Jones’s Diary, now twenty-five years old, is a modern classic. It’s spawned three sequels, four movies, at least one play, and who knows what else. 

The diary style is perfect for hapless Bridget’s attempts to get her life in order. While she’s reflective, she isn’t remotely insightful. Despite her goofiness, Bridget is lovable. Rereading this makes me relieved my Bridget years are far behind me! 

This was an excellent choice after a couple of disturbing books about the very worst in human nature. This one made me laugh.

C'est très rare que je lise un livre lorsque j'ai déjà vu le film (ne me demandez pas pourquoi, c'est comme ça ^^'). Je suis une grande amatrice des films Bridget Jones et j'ai eu envie de me pencher sur les bouquins. Assez étonnamment, je n'ai pas trouvé ça très palpitant. C'est sympa à lire, mais trop répétitif à mon goût. J'ai aussi eu du mal à me faire au style d'écriture un peu particulier à certains moments (c'est très haché, un peu comme quand on se dépêche d'écrire à quelqu'un et qu'on fait des phrases à moitié complète). Pas convaincue pour le coup ... Je ne pense pas continuer la série!
