I’ll read these books as long as SEP keeps writing them.
Really enjoyed this book -- one of SEPs best in my opinion. Loved the relationship between the opera start and the quarterback, his friends, how normal they really were. Enjoyed seeing hints of people in past books in the series. Loved the scene at his parents :) just an easy to read new favorite
This was an interesting book. It is part mystery and takes a couple twists and turns not seen in other books of this genre. I learned more about opera than I have in my entire life and found myself googling some of the songs (pieces?) mentioned. Not my favorite of her books, but absolutely not my least favorite, either.
The story
Thad is a professional sportsman, Olivia is a world renowned opera singer. When they are hired by a luxury watch brand as it’s spokespeople, and have to spend a month together on tour promoting two new watch models, the two start off the relationship badly due to a misunderstanding. Once the air is cleared, the attraction is obvious. It’s complicated by the recent death of Olivia’s ex-fiancé and someone trying to spook her.
My thoughts
This is a easy read, and the second book in the Chicago Stars series that I have read. It works well as a standalone though. Both Olivia and Thad are wary of getting too involved and the slow burn lasts for almost the first two thirds of the book. It takes alot of work for each of the characters to get to the point where they can accept their relationship and start living it. I recommend!

i have to say, i wasn’t expecting the multiple attempted homicides
edit: i cant stop thinking about the scene where she sings the habanera at him while they;'re in bed and it's so upsetting that i have to remove a star from my rating i cant

Olivia Shore is an opera singer, Thad is a sidelined quarterback relegated to coaching the up and coming talent. They're both very famous, and have been hired to tour as brand ambassadors for a luxury watch. Neither is impressed with the other. He calls her The Diva, and she thinks he's just a dumb jock. When Olivia starts getting threatening letters, the story takes a turn. The mystery element throughout kept me more invested than the developing relationship.
I am super picky about my Rom-Coms and I really enjoyed this one! I finished it in two days which I don't often do!
Fun summer read. Good to see SEP revisit the Chicago Stars with her trademark humor. Nice to see a strong, successful heroine.

Olivia Shore is a world renowned opera singer at the height of her career. But she’s got a secret, one that could run the whole thing off the rails. Thad Owens is a football golden boy, but an issue keeps him sidelined while a young hotshot gets all the glory. Both sign on to be the faces of Marchand Watches, and included in their contracts is a month traveling across the country together doing appearances and promoting the brand. What starts out as a potentially toxic relationship and a long four weeks quickly blooms into a genuine friendship...and maybe more.
This just catapulted to my top five favorite SEP books, and with a catalog of 20+ novels, every single one of which I’ve read, that’s saying A LOT. Olivia and Thad are just such lovable characters. Olivia is neurotic about her career as an opera singer and is just looking for someone to help her relax a little, even if she doesn’t know it. Thad is not your typical jock, being that he is incredibly intelligent both on and off the football field. I also loved SO much getting to see Coop and Piper, and even The Python again!
This book was laugh out loud funny. And the mystery element in this one was particularly enjoyable to try to unravel, and just furthered the relationship between Olivia and Thad. This is one book I know I’m going to be re-reading over and over when I need a pick me up, and even just for fun.
