O Namorado by Freida McFadden

There was only one twist that got me but the rest was predictable. The writing is so boring and stuffed with random crap that I didnt need to know. The fmc was infuriatingly DUMB I audibly screamed with frustration!! This is my second time a freida McFadden and again I’m disappointed!!

I really enjoyed this thriller. I definitely saw some these twists coming, but not all of them. I feel like that’s not often the case anymore.

I did wish Sydney stood up for herself a little more. The way she let Kevin talk to her on their first date was infuriating. I also wish we had more of her personality to go off of, because we really didn’t get much.

Regardless, this was easy to binge and I will definitely read more by this author.

Read it for Bookclub. I never really got into it. It wasn’t memorable. The main character was annoying and self-sabotaging. The girl friend group is very toxic, for a reason we find out later. Overall, served its purpose as a routine lifetime movie in book form.

DID NOT FINISH: 30%

I read this cause I thought “the coworker” by her was a decent read with some fun twists. I couldn’t finish at 30%.
I think Frieda has a formula that works for her to sell books, the same as at Taylor swift writes the same songs over and over. First of all, at least make the cover look enticing - not some purgatory book you’d find at the airport shop. Why do all her books look like that?
Second, I think the author is actually a guy operating under a female name cause there’s no way a woman can write such a spineless main lead with no likable inclinations. All of her characters are 1-dimensional and she shoves red herrings hard down your throat. Are we supposed to be surprised? I get real people aren’t always likable but these personalities feel over the top and circus-y.
The depictions of the “bad” characters are truly disgusting and irredeemable. The events where the characters interact seem unrealistic and caricature-like. Real people are a mix of complex emotions and traits, but Frieda only writes in black and white. Maybe she doesn’t know how to do depth? It gets boring and gross after a while.
Either way, I returned this after writing over 2 months to read this. Waste of a rental.
