The old school pulp hero vibe has never grabbed me, and despite his witty critiques of culture, I found these characters--especially the talking ape--a bit too smug, perfect, and beholden to establishment values. Not Moore's worst work--and the tales by the other Moore are hollow imitations--but very, very far from his best.

Leah Moore's King Solomon story is about the cutest thing ever.
