Well this was absolutely addictive. I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked this up from @bookofthemonth but I didn't anticipate I'd devour this quite the way I did.

Blackwood Academy is located on the fringes of the afterlife and only accepts a certain kind of student to help it reap souls. There's only one way out unless you begin forgetting, and that's the Decennial, a once in a decade celebration in which one worthy student is selected to become an Ascended, the highest rank they have at Blackwood, or they can choose to pass on into the Ether, which is essentially the unknown. This year, though, it's a competition and there's more at stake than anyone had a clue about. Included arch enemies who secretly pine for one another, August and Wren. 12 students will compete but only one comes out on top.

At first the 6 POVs really threw me for a loop. It's a lot to take in, but eventually I got the swing of things, but of course I favored some characters (like Wren and August) more than the others. I didn't expect to get hooked on this YA, but man was I ever and that ending!
